THE LAST TRAIN by Richard Alan

Jake sets out to reunite with his wife. The problem? He's dead!

Tragedy has struck Mr. and Mrs. Avia while on vacation. A train crash kills Jake and puts Bernadette in the hospital. This is the starting place for Jake’s romance driven fantasy adventure.

He navigates the strange and unexpected world of angels, demons, and spirit possessions. Richard Alan pokes a hole through the veil between us and an entertaining vision of the afterlife. Characters mix from both sides; some are very serious, some ordinary people, and many are just plain crazy.

The Last Train” blends horror with comedy. It has been described as, “Laugh out loud funny,” “Bloody brilliant!” and "The story is told in such a light and humorous way that one finds delight in what might otherwise be a grim ride."

About Richard

As a multi-genre author and writer, Richard H. Alan’s works have sprinkled the internet for many years. Poetry for nonprofit organizations appeared first. There was a substantial break when health issues knocked him down and almost out. He returned with short stories in various magazines, some taken from his time writing for The Twilight Zone in the late 1980s.

“The Rising of Julian Adams” was published, but as he grew as a writer and had penned three more novels in this vampire series, his vision for it changed and he withdrew it from the marketplace. Though the story is wonderful and will be revisited, he calls the first edition “An embarrassment.”

With that change in vision, he stepped up, swirled a few genres together, and wrote “The Last Train” in an act of stretching his wings in his newfound freedom. He had a delightful time writing this entertaining story. After plotting it out, it took on a life of its own that was admittedly, “Pure fun.” The restraints are now unlocked, and in that freedom he looks mischievously to his post-disability occupation with childlike excitement. “Oh, what shall be next?”
